BEARING OIL COOLER

Enerfin (RHP) bearing oil coolers are assembled as new equipment or replacement units to be installed in the most restricted areas in oil pots.
Enerfin designs and manufactures a complete line of custom bearing oil coolers. Using our extruded aluminium fin tubing, our coolers (type RHP) will give you the maximum surface required for your application.

We can offer various options to satisfy your request, ie; interior or exterior oil coolers with leak detector option.
Enerfin bearing oil coolers for motors and generators provide more cooling surface using fin tube construction.

In order to limit bearing oil cooler temperature to an acceptable value, auxiliary cooling means must sometimes be employed. The most common method is to insert a bearing oil cooler manufacturer into the thrust bearing oil cooler.
Improperly installing the torque converter can force the crank forward damaging the engine thrust bearing oil cooler.

Designs and manufactures immersion-style bearing oil cooler heat exchangers for industrial generators and motors. Many pumps have a bearing oil cooler available to provide the necessary cooling.

We also experimented with a vacuum cleaner in reverse to blow plenty of hot air through the gear box thrust bearing oil cooler to simulate desert conditions, but hot or cold air, the cooler hardly made any improvement.
A gear box manufacturer had told us before that we could expect trouble with a bearing oil cooler's operating completely submerged under oil.

At the moment, we need an additional bearing oil cooler to keep engine oil temperatures at acceptable levels. The bearing oil cooler contained oil and metallic flakes. A pressure test was performed on the oil line which connects from the pump to the facet oil filter and no leaks were detected. There was no oil noted in the two oil lines that run between the scavenge oil pump and the external sump and oil outlet.

The number 8 bearing oil cooler appeared to be approximately 80 percent destroyed and displayed evidence of oil starvation and heat distress.

When this proved unsuitable, a variety of bearing oil cooling methods were tried. A surviving photograph from 1932 shows an engine fitted with an external bearing oil cooler but it was a plumber's nightmare. By making a minor modification to the magnesium crankcase casting, it was possible to fit a bearing oil cooler within the blower housing.

After passing through the bearing oil cooler the heated air was ducted out of the engine compartment. Those of us adventurous enough to do our own repairs had good evidence that our engines would last longer if we could get the bearing oil cooler out of the blower housing. The usual method was to make a hose adaptor that fit where the bearing oil cooler normally mounted, allowing us to put the bearing oil cooler somewhere else, usually in front of the air inlet to the blower housing so as to get the benefit of the air flow.

Depending on the plumbing runs, an external bearing oil cooler and filter will increase your oil capacity by about 1.3 quarts. If you catch a deteriorating bearing oil coller before it gets too bad, though, you can make the fan live a lot longer with a few drops of oil. If you oil a bearing before it shows any symptoms, the thing can live for a lot longer than the manufacturers expected.

Aluminum bearing oil cooler ensures a cool supply of oil. The oil then passes through the bearing oil cooler and is delivered to the bearings at the lower temperature.
Oil supplied to Hydrogen Cooled Generator bearings and hydrogen seals should be maintained within five degrees. By diverting temperature controlled bearing lubrication oil through the seal bearing oil cooler, rather than water, the two oil supplies will always be close to equal in temperature. We suspect that part of the problem is due to the installation of one of the bearing oil coolers, where the airflow into the bearing cooler is not uniform. We are modifying the bearing oil cooler installation to ensure a more uniform airflow to the cooler.

The oil bearings will run considerably cooler allowing them to last longer. The oil itself, whether synthetic or hydrocarbon oil will run cooler and therefore last much longer before oxidizing, carbonizing and needing replacement. You can easily check the condition of the bearing oil coller by removing the cover to the reservoir. The bearing oil cooler will be continuously cleaned as it passes through the filter. Therefore, contaminants that can shorten bearing life are continuously removed. Any moisture that may be contained in the bearing oil cooler will settle in the external reservoir where it can be drained off.
